6 Important methods of Surface and structural cleaning

Surface and structural cleaning perform with various debris removal methods depending upon the customer’s agreed-upon expectations. Determining the appropriate surface and structural cleaning method starts with testing using the gentlest process and then gradually increasing until the desired and good results are achieved.

Some essential methods of surface and structural cleaning illustrate below for basic acknowledgment.

1. Abrasive cleaning method

The abrasive cleaning method is just as it sounds abrasive. Using various blast media to clean structures can damage the substrate depending upon the pollutant being removed and the type of media being used.

Traditional sand-blasting methods are pretty aggressive. However, slag, ice, baking soda, corn cobs, and others may be used successfully under controlled circumstances.

2. Mouse cleaning apparatus and method

The method of using the mouse pad cleaning apparatus is exposed and claimed. The method includes some steps of uncovering the mouse cleaning surface, applying the mouse and ball of the mouse to the cleaning surface, moving the mouse in a rotational pattern on the mouse cleaning surface, removing the mouse from the mouse cleaning surface, washing the cleaning surface, and covering the mouse cleaning surface.

3. Dry cleaning method

In surface and structural cleaning, the laser cleaning method is the most extensively used dry cleaning method, which features high cleaning efficiency and formative selection of the cleaning area. It accomplishes the cleaning function by using a laser beam to irradiate the surface to cause rapid thermal expansion of the pollutants and the substrate or vaporizing and evaporating the contaminants.

Plasma cleaning can eliminate contaminants with atomic-level size. It uses the “activation” of high-energy particles in the plasma to remove impurities. This method has a good effect on cleaning, but it also has the problem of low efficiency and high cost.

4. Wet cleaning method

Wet cleaning methods use water or other liquids as a medium to remove impurities by soaking, spraying, or vibrating. The main damp cleaning methods include ultrasonic, dip, wipe, and spread.

5. Chemical cleaning method

To properly disinfect, use an approved disinfectant and a disposable cloth. If using an alcohol-based product, use one with a minimum of 70% alcohol (i.e., Ethanol or Isopropyl alcohol).

Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning and disinfection products (e.g., concentration, application method, contact time, etc.) Do not mix chemicals unless stated in the manufacturer’s instructions.

6. Water cleaning method

The water cleaning method is the gentlest and safest in surface and structural cleaning. Typical types of water cleaning methods are rinsing, light pressure water blasting, neutral impact cleaning (also known as the “water bar method”), steam cleaning, and hot water washing.
